About the Artist

Melissa Borgia-Askey

I've had a lifelong passion for the arts, beginning with a Commercial Art program in high school and continuing through college-level art courses. Over the years, I've explored a variety of media including watercolor, pen and ink, and photography. My current work blends these foundations with a deep appreciation for the natural world, using native flowers and organic materials to create one-of-a-kind pieces rooted in place and sustainability.

Alongside my art, I’ve had a long and fulfilling career as a faculty member in higher education, where my academic interests include researching Indigenous languages and cultures. This dual path—creative and scholarly—informs my work with both intentionality and reverence for the land and its stories.
